家富良

We built the interior of 家富良 in a newly constructed building in Tokyo. It is a thoroughly Japanese-style restaurant created within one part of the building. The wooden rods that form the wall design were shaved and polished one by one, by hand. Rather than lining up ready-made parts, each rod was shaped while looking at its own grain, so the work grows with every rod. A new building has an interior management office that oversees all the contractors. Delivery times and the use of shared areas follow its instructions, and the work proceeds in step with the other shops being fitted out at the same time. It is a site that cannot be run on our schedule alone, and the planning takes care. We do not often work on spaces with such a traditional Japanese character, so creating an interior with a different atmosphere from our usual projects felt refreshing.
