lambne

[Fukushima, Osaka]

lambne is a lamb yakiniku brand operated by 株式会社オペレーションファクトリー. The restaurant interior was fitted into a triangular unit at the pointed end of a building's ground floor. When construction began from the bare shell, the perimeter walls had not yet been installed and the space stood open to the pavement. Cold winter wind blew through the site, making it a memorable start. The interior is chic and restrained, befitting an upscale lamb restaurant. At its centre are a triangular counter and a matching suspended light, both with rounded corners. The counter has a tiled top, while the light fixture has a stainless-steel vibration finish. We worked through the fine details to bring out the character of these forms and materials. The triangular layout called for careful adjustments from the setting-out stage. With the ceiling left exposed, lighting positions, wiring routes and the suspension of air-conditioning equipment all had to be considered as part of the finished appearance. Bringing complex forms and services together in one space made this a demanding build. It remains one of the most challenging projects of my career. We put our experience and technical skills into realising the designer's vision.
