㐂舌 響

The interior of the yakiniku restaurant 㐂舌 響 began with stripping an existing shop back to its shell, within one section of an old timber building in a historic streetscape. Once demolition revealed the building's condition, we adjusted the detailing around beams and interior junctions as construction progressed. The ventilation and exhaust ductwork essential to a yakiniku restaurant required particular ingenuity. Making use of limited space, we secured an exhaust route running outside the building and up to the roof. We drew on our site experience and knowledge to reconcile the existing building's constraints with the restaurant's equipment needs. A bar area was also incorporated, creating a refined space that goes beyond the usual image of a yakiniku restaurant. After completion, I saw visitors from overseas queuing day after day, helped by the appeal of the location. Seeing a space we worked so hard on enjoyed by so many people remains a deeply rewarding memory for us.
